The Caledonian Hotel
The first hotel Solar Panel Options installed with solar The Caledonian Hotel in Echuca, known affectionately to locals as ‘The Cal’. The hotel has a fully licensed bistro, TAB, function room, 16 modern rooms for stays and a drive-thru coffee stop. The owners at the time were Dean and Melissa Brooks. In mid-2014, their electricity bills were approximately $6,000 per month, and Dean wanted to reduce costs by exploring solar.
Solar always works well for any business that runs refrigeration during the day. The predictable nature of the consumption of power at these sites allows for easier system design and consumption of their own self-produced power.
Our recommendation to Dean was a 44kW system including 176 panels, with some requiring tilt frames when installed on the drive-thru roof. As a result of our solar power installation, Dean and Melissa’s electricity bills were drastically reduced. Since its installation five years ago, the system has saved The Cal a staggering $60,000.
Ashley, the Solar Panel Options senior consultant who worked with Dean and Melissa on this project, has said that Dean and Melissa always made sure to look after him with drinks whenever he visited The Cal, as their way of saying thank you.
We are proud to have helped The Cal reduce their costs so drastically, and would like to thank Dean and Melissa for being such great clients to work with.
